Check out what our students have been getting up to!

 In XYZ Newsletter

As mentioned in previous newsletters, I wanted to start a thread where we can inspire our students with the achievements of XYZ students. Here are just a few of my students. I hope other tutors will be able to report on their students activities in the coming months:

Georgia Ayew:

Georgia has been moving from strength to strength with her drumming. Her passion in music has been ignited ever since passing her grade 8 back in February 2018 (with distinction). She has recently shadowed the drummer Tommy Bates during the most recent Christmas pantomime ‘Peter Pan’ at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre. I was very impressed to see that Georgia had also visited Ronnie Scott’s to play in the youth band. For those of you who do not know, Ronnie Scott’s is a very prestigious venue in London which is very popular in the Jazz music scene. Not only did Georgia hold her own in this setting, she got invited back to play again! Go Georgia!

Jack Manders:

Jack has been a truly gifted drummer ever since the age of 2. Now he is still a very young 10 years old, he has just been confirmed as the drummer for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘School Of Rock!’ Here are a few words from Jack:

It’s been the hardest secret to keep but I am so excited to be joining the cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock – The Musical to share the role of Freddy.  We are in the middle of rehearsals right now which is really exciting but I can’t wait for my very first performance. To be playing drums live on stage in the West End will be a dream come true!”

Fantastic work Jack, we are all so happy for you!

Edward Gilbert:

As a former student of XYZ, Edward moved far away from Bucks several years ago and has continued lessons ever since. I was delighted to see his most recent drum cover video kindly sent over by his mum. Go Edward! Check out his playing here:

Edward is the star drummer in his upcoming school production of ‘School Of Rock’.

If you are gigging, performing, recording or doing anything else musically related, please email me and I will be happy to include you! All XYZ musicians are welcome!
