XYZ Group Newsletter September 2018

 In XYZ Newsletter

Hello XYZ family!

Welcome to the September newsletter. We hope you are all getting settled back into the school routine. Before you know it, it’ll be Christmas! In the meantime there’s plenty to keep you up-to-date on, as we dive headfirst into the new academic year.

A huge welcome to all of the new members of the XYZ family!

After a huge growth spurt over the summer, we have many new members of the XYZ family to welcome. This is our monthly newsletter. We use this as a way of keeping all of our students up-to-date with upcoming events and to give some insight into what we get up to in and out of the music lessons. Please bear with us if we are still in the process of signing you up. These things can take time and planning. Please always feel free to give us a gentle reminder if it makes you feel more secure with the sign-up process. I am always available on email on duncan@xyzmusicacademy.com

XYZ Festival 2018 footage is out now!

Pride cometh before the fall…well, after bragging about how quick the editing came together, summer hit us like a ton of bricks and prevented us from sending the videos out! I can safely say that all of the videos have been sent out to you now so please stay vigilant on your emails. Just be aware, that we may get in touch should we want to use any of the videos for advertisement purposes. We will require your permission before we do so.

The Move Is Complete!

Here is the main reason that we’ve been so busy over the summer. Amongst the summer school and my paternity leave, we had to find time to re-model pretty much every room in our tuition building due to the exodus of our dedicated rehearsal and studio complex. All of our services still remain uninterrupted as we have rebuilt the studio and rehearsal facility into our tuition facility to run alongside each other. This will enhance our lessons due to the sheer amount of equipment available in each room, but it will also make us more focused as a team as the one building will be a hive of activity. We now have 3 fully functioning rehearsal rooms including a solo booth – for students and musicians wishing to get a few hours practice in. This will be particularly useful for drummers that have electronic kits to practice on at home but want to convert their playing onto an acoustic kit.

Have a look at the photos to see what we got up to!

We have another Trinity Rock & Pop examiner training day coming up!

Calling all budding Trinity Rock & Pop candidates and to those of you wanting to earn some Amazon vouchers. Trinity College London has booked another examiner training day with us. This means that students can participate as ‘dummy’ candidates in up to 4 exams throughout the day. For each exam that the students sit, they will be rewarded a £20 Amazon voucher meaning that students can earn up to £80 in Amazon vouchers. Here are some more details:

Date: Saturday the 27th of October

Times: 09:00am – 05:00pm

If you are interested then please email me on duncan@xyzmusicacademy.com and I will register your interest. Once we hand over the full list of candidates, Trinity will come back with specific timings so you know when your skills will be required.

Our brand new Band Experience workshop dates are now up on our site!

The Band Experience has been our longest standing workshop dating back to the Dunx Drum School days. After a slight dip in interest, we thought it would be time for a little rebrand to make things more interesting for both the students and staff. Instead of branding this as a ‘Rock’ band experience. We didn’t want to pigeonhole ourselves to just one style of music as we usually covered various genres. We will now title the band experiences with new genres such as Jazz, Funk, Pop, Rock, Punk and Blues. By doing this we hope to give the students a more in-depth insight into different genres and playing techniques.

The first two band experience workshops running are:
Pop Band Experience – 23rd October
Blues Band Experience – 24th October

Each Workshop is £40 for the day and you can find more information and bookings in the link below:

XYZ’s involvement with Trinity College London and the UK Drum Show!

Trinity College London has asked me to be their in house drumming tutor for the UK drum show at the end of September. Throughout the show, I shall be delivering drum lessons to budding drummers who are looking to try out the Trinity Rock & Pop content. This is an amazing and very flattering opportunity. The UK drum show is hosted annually in Manchester and is shaping up to be one of the largest drumming events in Europe.

Details of the UK drum show can be found here: http://theukdrumshow.com/

Thank you for reading. We look forward to another fantastic year!

All the best,
